Addicted to the Daily Source Code

Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code is now part of my regular listening habits. My iPodder script snags the latest show, loads it up into iTunes (don’t have an iPod) and away we go.

Part of the appeal for me is that it is truly a work in progress. Over the past few weeks, Curry has been trying various software and hardware combinations on his Mac to put the show together. Most of it happens live and we get to hear first-hand what works and what sucks. His deep radio roots and technical chops are obvious. He has the ability to make it conversationsl even thought he’s talking to himself.

It is a lot like shortwave and pirate radio combined, except I can listen to the shows at my convenience. Shortwave radio has always fascinated me but I’ve never really had the time or spare cash to get fully involved.

I wish they would bake downloading enclosures directly into iTunes. I could tune to the “Radio” channel in iTunes, scan the dial by genre and then subscribe to shows that look interesting. Voila, iTunes would take care of downloading them daily into my playlists.
