Creating a link blog

I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a link blog to keep track of links I gather through the research process or just want to reference later. At first I was going to use Furl and PHP but I have decided to give del.icio.us a spin.

I’m using Jeffrey Veen’s perl script to create the links you see below this post. I am using cron to run the script in the evening and it gathers up any links I have created at del.icio.us during the day and posts them to my Movable Type weblog.

I ran the script from the command line today in order to get an example up online. You can select the link or select a tag and you’ll get all of the links I have collected over time under that tag.

I like this implementation because it publishes the links to my weblog where I can review and search for them over time. It is also another way to share them with others. I’m using the del.icio.us bookmarklet to grab the links.
